In the Czech Republic, beer consumption has reached a historical minimum of 128 liters per inhabitant per year, the Czech Union of Breweries and the malt shops (ČSPS).
„Beer consumption per inhabitant of the republic at 128 liters in 2023 turned out to be even lower than the statistical average during the period of restrictions in the Czech Republic during the coronavirus pandemic” , says the text
Each inhabitant of the republic, according to SPS, drank 8 liters of beer less in 2023 than in 2022. The share of draft beer sold in restaurants, cafes and bars decreased annually by 1% and amounts to 30% of the total consumption of intoxicating drink.
20 million hl of beer were produced in the Czech Republic in 2023. This is 2.4% less than in 2022. In the domestic market of the republic, the consumption of intoxicating drinks, including varieties imported from abroad, decreased by 400 thousand hectoliters to 15.2 million hectoliters. In the country, as follows from the document, the demand for beer containing alcohol is decreasing, and its non-alcoholic version is becoming more and more in demand.
According to experts, the uncertain economic situation in the Czech Republic and changes in consumer behavior of customers have a negative impact on the beer market. Meanwhile, they explain the increase in demand for non-alcoholic varieties of intoxicating drinks with the desire of the inhabitants of the republic for a healthy lifestyle.
