Romania plans to develop a new winter resort in the mountains of Banat with financing of 42 million euros, reports the information site Ziare, quoted by BTA.
The development project of the Semenik-Krivaya tourist area in the mountains of Banat (part of the Western Carpathians) received this summer funding approval from the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism and aims to make the region a top destination for lovers of winter sports, but also in a resort with facilities and entertainment in all seasons.
With a total budget of 42 million euros, the project envisages the creation of a modern ski area with nine kilometers of new slopes, a gondola and artificial snow facilities, as well as many other entertainments, such as theme parks, a water sports center and hiking trails.< /p>
The project will be implemented by the town halls of Resica and Valuug and the District Council of Caras-Severin (Southwestern Romania). Resitsa City Hall is the lead partner in the project, and Mayor Ioan Popa says the funding contract will be signed this month.
The mayor specified that the Ministry of Economy has provided 70 percent of the total cost of the project, i.e. about 30 million euros, and the remaining 12 million euros will be provided through a bank loan from the town hall of Resita or from a consortium of the three institutions. involved in the project.
The ski runs will start and finish at different altitudes, offering a variety of routes along the gondola route. The Franzdorf track, for example, will start at 1,391 meters above sea level and descend to 625 meters.
The project, which is included in the National Tourism Master Plan, will turn Semenik into a modern resort, contributing significantly to the development of Karash-Severin County, Ziare said.
