Russia expects progress on the gas hub with Turkey - 1

The gas hub project with Turkey is in the interest of Europe and Russia expects concrete progress on its implementation in the next few months. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov to the TV channel TRT World on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan on October 22-24.

„Our leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, have discussed the creation of a gas hub in Turkey over the past few years. This is a purely economic project that is in the interest of Turkey, in the interest of the Russian Federation and in the interest of future consumers in Europe. Because there are many countries in Europe that want to buy Russian gas. Therefore, the realization of this project is really necessary. The work continues at an expert level and we hope in the coming months to get really sensitive results”, said the representative of the Kremlin.

He also added that Russian gas is “much cheaper than LNG coming on the spot market or from the United States”. “It is half the price and is a more reliable source”, Peskov emphasized.
