The rulers, who missed the budget, decided to fill it by tearing another skin from the people. They are reducing the amount of wine you can produce at home by half and rakia by 30 liters. Everything above that will be taxed with a double excise tax - 4.40 leva.", commented the leader of "Nepokorna Bulgaria" Kornelia Ninova and added:
"You cannot sell your grapes to whoever you want, only to a registered trader. You cannot buy from your neighbor if you want. Complete madness. Have you solved all the problems, so you are forcing people to drink homemade rakia? The big smuggling channels are running around under the government umbrella, and you decided to fill your coffers with the people.
Today, Prime Minister Zhelyazkov, feeling the heat from the reaction to this absurd law, ordered the Minister of Agriculture to withdraw it. And here begins the even greater absurdity: he was going to withdraw it, but only for wine. Another minister was responsible for rakia - for the economy, and he was going to decide. Bring the Ministry of Finance into the mix, because it collects excise taxes and monitors the boilers.
This is definitely not normal governance. In addition to being incompetent, harmful and thieving, it is also caricatured. We need to get rid of this disgrace as soon as possible and regain our dignity."
