Tsvetelina Penkova: Bulgaria and the region can play a key role in the re-industrialization of the EU - 1

S&D MEP Tsvetelina Penkova has once again established herself as one of the leading voices in the debate on the future of European industry.

This week Penkova took part in the General Assembly of the Association of Industries in Central Greece (SVSE) – a key forum that brought together representatives of the Greek government, the European Commission, industry leaders and the European Parliament. Key participants included Deputy Prime Minister of Greece Costis Hatzidakis, Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos, President of the Union of Greek Enterprises Spyros Theodoropoulos, representatives of Greek industry.

The event focused on the future of European industry and technological progress. Within the panel “Clean Industrial Deal: The Way Forward“ Tsvetelina Penkova stressed that industrial competitiveness and the circular economy must go hand in hand.

“The Clean Industrial Deal is a European regulatory framework that enables industrial development in our region. We need to give European companies the confidence to develop here, not outside the EU,“ said Penkova, emphasizing the need for a stable and predictable environment for business.

The discussion outlined the main challenges facing the future of the industry: energy security and prices, access to financing, circular economy and strategic autonomy of Europe.

With her clear position and active role in European debates, Tsvetelina Penkova reinforces the importance of Bulgaria in the process of re-industrialization. “Connectivity in the Union is the first step towards success in this process. Bulgaria and our region should be the beginning of the construction of a connected electricity transmission network in the EU. Bulgaria has a balanced energy mix, which very few countries can boast of, and our industry, especially in the aspect of the metallurgical sector, can be an active participant in the construction of the necessary infrastructure.“
