Iliana Yotova: There is an obvious campaign against the presidential institution - 1

According to Vice President Iliana Yotova, there is an obvious campaign against the presidential institution, given the elections for head of state in a year. Yotova commented in Madzharovo on the attacks of GERB leader Boyko Borisov on President Radev in recent days.

"Just as Borisov waged war with all political parties - both his own and foreign - for 12 years, so will the style be for this one year, but for me the essential issues for Bulgaria are more important, and not what he thinks about the president or about our work in general," said the Vice President.

Asked whether she would run for the presidency, Iliana Yotova said that this would become clear at a later stage. The Vice President said that she expected Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov to speak before the UN General Assembly more about how Europe can regain its leadership positions.

"This has been the policy of Prime Minister Zhelyazkov and the government since day one. I have not seen anywhere the Bulgarian flavor of his position and the nuances that, in my opinion, a Prime Minister should present when he is on this major international stage. Let's see how we will make Europe regain its leadership positions. I expected the Bulgarian Prime Minister to speak in this direction" - said Iliana Yotova, who attended the National Thracian Pilgrimage, dedicated to 112 years since the destruction of the Thracian Bulgarians at the Thracian Memorial Complex in Madzharovo.

In his speech before the UN General Assembly last night, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov called for reforming the Security Council so that Eastern European countries would have a non-permanent seat in it. Zhelyazkov said Russia was undermining prospects for peace with its violations of European countries' airspace in recent weeks.
