Minister Gutsanov welcomes the Paralympic world champion in athletics: Bulgaria also celebrates Rushdi today - 1

Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov welcomed at the “Vasil Levski“ airport Paralympian Rushdi Rushdi, who won the world title in shot put at the championship in Delhi, India.

“In recent days, Bulgaria has been celebrating the volleyball world vice-champions, but Bulgaria is also celebrating the title of Rushdi Rushdi”, said Minister Gutsanov. He noted that the successes of our Paralympian show the strength of the human spirit. “Rushdi managed to win 14 titles – 6 world, 6 European, 2 Olympic. This really shows that a person, when he has spirit and strength, can overcome absolutely anything“, the Minister of Social Affairs also stated.

At the “Vasil Levski“ airport, the athlete moved with an electric motor attached to his ring wheelchair, which was provided under the project of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy “Provision of assistive devices to persons with permanent disabilities“, financed under the National Plan for Recovery and Resilience. The device helps to relieve the burden on the hands of the person in the wheelchair.

“I feel that I can still do it and that is why I continue“, explained Rushdi, which motivates him to stay in the big sport. He also commented on the second place of the volleyball players, who also returned home today after their triumph at the World Championship in the Philippines: “We followed their performance, it's a big deal!“.
