A train hits a cyclist in Plovdiv.
The incident occurred at the level crossing at the intersection of Blvd. „Peshtersko Shose“ and Blvd. „Koprivshtitsa“.
According to NOVA, at around 4:10 p.m., the man crossed the level crossing in the canton area with lowered barriers.
Despite the warning about the oncoming passenger train, the cyclist crossed the tracks when he was hit by the oncoming train.
The police announced that the identity of the victim has been established - a young man.
The scene of the accident has been preserved, an inspection is underway. Traffic in the area of the crossing is regulated by officers of the "Traffic Police" sector and the Second Regional Police Station.
The incident led to chaos and briefly blocked traffic in the city during the busiest hour. The train has been stopped and remains in place until the completion of the investigative and operational actions.
