The Sofia City Court is deciding today whether to permanently detain Dr. Stanimir Hasardzhiev. He is being held on charges of coercion for which a firearm was used.
According to the prosecutor's office, in Hasardzhiev's apartment, he and three other people, including the actor from the "Sofia" theater, Rosen Belov, drugged a 20-year-old young man. They tied him to a chair, threatened him with a gun and demanded sexual favors from him. However, the boy managed to escape and reported the matter to the police.
"I did not touch this boy and I will prove it", said Hasardjiev upon entering the courtroom, quoted by Nova TV. He added that in his opinion the "fabricated testimony" was due to a report that he himself filed against the member of the Supervisory Board of the Health Insurance Fund Andrey Damyanov. "They have been delaying the case against him for three years", the accused also said.
Earlier this week, Dr. Stanimir Hasardjiev was also dismissed as director of the National Patients' Organization. Its members suspected that he was behind the emptying of the NGO's bank account.
