On the Day of the People's Awakeners, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church took another step towards the future - it launched its own mobile application. It is available both online and offline. There are already thousands of users and they are giving ideas to include notifications for holidays, fasts and even audiobooks, Nova TV reports.
On September 19, a deepfake of Patriarch Daniil went around social networks and tried to deceive many through artificial intelligence.
“This leads to distortion, distortion, and sometimes outright lies – and the father of lies is the devil”, Bishop Gerasim believes.
The Bulgarian Orthodox Church has created its own mobile application not only in response to online challenges, but also in an attempt to take another step towards modern man.
"More than 2,000 people downloaded it in just a few hours. The interest is great”, Bishop Gerasim believes.
And in the application they find: the Bible, church news, prayers for all occasions and an Orthodox calendar for every day of the year.
“A person can open it and read which saint is celebrated on that day. Having it on the phone, it is very accessible”, shared Teodora Ivanova.
“A person can use it on the phone, in the mountains and in places where there is no coverage. A playlist of hymns will also be created”, added Bishop Gerasim.
Having answered probably hundreds of questions on one of the most used social networks among adolescents, today Father Irinej is categorical: the person asking needs a place where the information is reliable. “Questions always give rise to questions and it is good to look for answers in the right place. Let us not only peek through digital devices in the temple, but participate live”.
And despite the many steps of the Church towards modern man, through all social networks, applications and live services, there comes a time to pause - where artificial intelligence begins.
“As the patriarch said, technology and artificial intelligence cannot replace man with his imagination and, above all, his soul”, believes Bishop Gerasim.
“A Christian must realize that this is a code that has no face. Artificial intelligence cannot and should not give guidance – we must know that there is a danger for us as Christians. We should not ask a bot for the answers, but we should ask God”, explained Father Irinej.
