Bulgaria begins the implementation of a national cybersecurity system - a project that will position the country among the leaders in the EU in cyber resilience. This was announced by the Minister of e-Government Valentin Mundrov during a working meeting in Berlin with representatives of the Eastern Commission of the German Economy. The conversation was also attended by the Bulgarian Ambassador to Germany Grigor Porozhanov.

Minister Mundrov presented to the German partners the key steps for building the national system, which will allow for early identification and analysis of threats, higher resilience of institutions and more effective coordination between state structures. He emphasized that this is a strategic project that will bring Bulgaria to a new level in the field of cybersecurity.

The meeting also discussed the possibilities for expanding cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany in the field of IT technologies and cybersecurity. The Minister pointed out that it is precisely the common European goals in the field of digital security that are a strong basis for joint work.

“Cybersecurity is a common front. In a rapidly developing world, member states must act together to be stronger against modern threats. This can only be achieved through close cooperation within the EU“, said Minister Mundrov.

He presented to the German business the policies that the MEU implements to ensure cybersecurity, as well as Bulgaria's progress in the modernization of the digital infrastructure. The Minister assured the participants that our country has a strong IT sector and internationally recognized experts who can be reliable partners in building secure and innovative solutions.

„Germany is a leading economic and trade partner of Bulgaria and one of the most significant investors in our country. Therefore, our priority is to maintain and build on our cooperation, especially in IT projects. Bulgaria has the potential, expertise and vision to be an example of a modern, secure and transparent country“, emphasized Minister Mundrov.

The representatives of the Eastern Commission of the German Economy expressed satisfaction that after their meeting with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov last week in Sofia, bilateral work on topics of mutual interest is already being specified, and real progress can be expected through the partnership with the Ministry of e-Government. „Germany can rely on the competencies of Bulgarian IT specialists, who enjoy high trust in a number of European and global projects. Bulgarian experts are recognized for their expertise and innovative approach, and German companies are actively working with them to build secure digital solutions and infrastructure. This partnership proves the strength of the Bulgarian IT sector as a reliable and sustainable resource for international projects”, said Valentin Mundrov.

“The Ministry of e-Government confirms its readiness for an active and sustainable partnership with German institutions and businesses, aimed at developing innovations, digital security and strengthening economic ties between the two countries”, was categorical the Minister of e-Government Valentin Mundrov.
