Another vote of no confidence against the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet, preparation for new protests and a second attempt to adopt the state budget - this is expected next week. Anton Kutev, Prof. Rosen Stoyanov, Assoc. Prof. Georgi Lozanov commented on the topic to bTV.
When asked whether the government or the opposition ignited these protests, Anton Kutev replied that it was "arrogance" that ignited them.
According to him, the ministers in the government "really want to do their job and some of them are probably succeeding".
„It is not a question of saying that the entire government is not working, because such qualifications are not correct. But Peevski's arrogance and the attempt to conquer everything and subordinate everything to himself, after having no more than 2% support in the population... This arrogance ignited the protests. And until this is avoided, there is no way to reduce the growth and energy of the protest," Kutev pointed out.
„In the next elections, whenever they are, the multitudes - including those who protest - will face the majority. With this harsh reality of those who have the right - as a group in Bulgaria - to vote, against those who are very active - with a position, with energy, very young, perhaps naive, or simply happy to be able to join some historical moment that they did not experience, since we are talking about those born after 1996“, commented Prof. Rosen Stoyanov.
“If we look historically, politicians, the so-called status quo, have always managed in one way or another to set goals and channel a given energy, even roughly - to take advantage of it“, he added.
“The protest is still “against“. “For“ what it is, it is too early to predict. But it is clear what it is against - and this is against the status quo, which the protests were against in 2020. And it was obvious that after it was restored, and demonstratively, even with an attempt to present itself as the only possible model of governance in Bulgaria - the model for which the young people protested in 2020, it is clear that this could not help but happen. And the next young people had to come, so that they could react again to the way in which there is no opportunity in society and it must remain silent and look at politicians as its superiors who should listen“, commented Associate Professor Georgi Lozanov.
In his words, this young and pragmatic generation cannot stand this - it knows Bulgaria only as a "Western democratic state".
„And at the moment when it is already entering its social and political maturity, it cannot help but wonder how this miracle is possible, which in Bulgaria is presented as a model of governance, of social relations, of a hierarchy of power. Why can there be a person in power who is hierarchically high in power, who has been sanctioned for corruption by this very Western democracy. And it doesn't matter. Even the opposite. Society is expected to somehow amnesty him“, noted Assoc. Prof. Lozanov.
According to Anton Kutev, this is not a protest by Generation Z, and generational divisions should not be so important to us. And the dividend will rather be for the PP-DB than for the president.
"The process is irreversible. This government will fall, and soon. The energy is very great and it is unstoppable. The street has already smelled the resignation and the fall of power," he also noted.
According to him, Borisov is trying to split the protest, and it is very important that this does not happen.
