Over 150,000 people against the "Borisov-Peevski" model. The protest "Resignation. Peevski and Borisov out of power" gathered over 150,000 citizens in the center of Sofia. This is the largest mobilization of civic energy since 2013 and 2020. People came out not because of parties - but against the model that is killing statehood. They came out against arrogance, corruption, political dependencies and fear. This is what the leader of "Republicans for Bulgaria" wrote on Facebook on the occasion of last night's anti-government protest and former deputy chairman of GERB Tsvetan Tsvetanov added:
The message was clear and strong:
• „Resign!“
• „No to the mafia!“
• “Borisov and Peevski out!“
This is not just a protest.
This is a diagnosis of the governing model.
The protests are legitimate and fair.
Citizens have the right to demand an end to this model.
They have the right to name the guilty.
I am convinced that all honorable people from GERB are on the side of free citizens, not defenders of the status quo.
As the first chairman of GERB, I say clearly: the party has been replaced!
The party we built is today privatized and captured.
Since 2020, Boyko Borisov's government has finally broken away from the principles on which we created GERB – responsibility, integrity and service to the people.
In the last five years, instead of a modern political community, a closed circle of dependent and obedient figures has formed, for whom power is a cover, and their personal survival – the main goal.
The conformist leadership – the backbone of the collapse.
People like Daniel Mitov, Rosen Zhelyazkov, Toma Bikov, Miroslav Borshosh, Denitsa Sacheva, Kostadin Angelov, Raya Nazaryan and others are not builders of GERB – they are temporary beneficiaries of it.
They do not defend principles.
They maintain positions.
They do not lead the party – they serve it.
The truth is simple
Boyko Borisov holds GERB hostage to his own past.
He does not unite – he isolates.
He does not defend the party – he uses it.
He managed to “package“ GERB in the backstage model.
And it must bear political responsibility for this.
The coalition with the MRF and the BSP is a historical betrayal.
GERB was created as an alternative to the backstage.
Today, this model governs through GERB.
This is not a compromise.
This is capitulation.
Immediate actions are needed:
• Complete withdrawal of the conformist leadership of the party.
• Ending the dependencies on the MRF and the backstage.
What the real members of GERB say:
After dozens of conversations with former and current members of the party, I hear the same thing: confusion, anger, disappointment.
You are not to blame.
You have been deceived.
Silenced.
Turned into extras.
The real people of GERB are not in the offices.
They are in the cities, villages, hospitals, schools, workplaces.
And they have the right to speak – it's time they did!
