"Save Sofia": Vasil Terziev should not listen and impose fines of 14 million for the repair of "Rozhen" Blvd. - 1

The civic platform "Save Sofia" sharply criticized the repair of the capital's Rozhen Blvd., stating that despite the change of management in the Sofia Municipality, the practices in large infrastructure projects have not changed.

"Fandakova is gone, but the repair of the repair is still here", said the chairman of "Save Sofia" Boris Bonev. According to him, the protracted repair is indicative of the lack of effective control over expensive municipal projects. Bonev also commented that he sees no indications that the inspection of the site by Mayor Vasil Terziev has led to any real findings about the problems on site, news.bg pointed out.

"Save Sofia" emphasizes that this is a project worth over 50 million leva including VAT, which began in November 2023 and was planned for completion more than a year ago. Instead, after about 15 months of delay, the result is "loose curbs, sloppily arranged sidewalks, a bike path from nowhere to nowhere and manholes that are again not at the level of the asphalt". According to the formation, this is proof that the "Fandakova model" continues to function.

Bonev reminded that the repair contract provides for serious sanctions - in case of a delay of more than a year, the penalties can exceed 12 million leva, and in case of poor-quality performance - even more than 2 million leva. "We expect the mayor of Sofia to impose all sanctions under the contract - both for the delay and for the defects. This is a test of whether the new administration wants to break with old practices," he said.

From "Save Sofia" They also demanded responsibility from Deputy Mayor for Construction Nikola Lyutov, reminding that two months ago they had demanded his resignation due to the refusal to implement parking lots included in the budget of the Sofia Municipality.

Boris Bonev warned that public trust is not unconditional. "If this administration also tolerates low quality, annexes and endless repairs worth tens of millions, Sofia residents will not forgive it", he said, adding that the continuation of such practices risks reinforcing the feeling that "these are useless too".
