Consultations with the President: Raya Nazaryan refused to be acting prime minister - 1

President Iliana Yotova began consultations on forming an acting government. The head of state first spoke with the speaker of the National Assembly Raya Nazaryan. The meeting began before noon. After it, it became clear that Nazaryan does not accept to take the position of acting prime minister, Nova TV reported.
The meeting between the two remained closed to the media. "We expect quick and imminent elections, so we discussed the most important things for the acting cabinet, as well as what the figures of the prime minister and the interior minister should be in order to organize a fair vote. The president must assess who will best meet the expectations of society. A political figure should not be an acting prime minister, because there must be a sense of impartiality. Otherwise, there will be expectations of interference in the election process", explained Raya Nazaryan.
According to her, the election date will obviously not be March 29, but it is still unclear which one it will be.

We recall that some of the potential candidates - Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva and BNB Governor Dimitar Radev - have already refused to be acting prime ministers. Raya Nazaryan was among those who refused the post.

Once a new acting prime minister is appointed, the date of the elections will be announced. According to the Constitution, the main task of the acting government is to organize and hold elections within two months of his appointment. This means that the vote can be scheduled earlier than this maximum deadline.
