In 30 days, 35 people have died in accidents. One of them is another on the road near Telish, which took another human life. A protest and blockade of the Sofia - Pleven road at the junction for the village of Telish is planned for tomorrow.
"When we have weak and cowardly politicians, then they try to use informal public opinion leaders who organize protests so that these protests are discredited. The protest in Telish has a high probability of turning into a constituent assembly for the creation of a party. When we use human tragedies for personal purposes, we are obliged to react and shed light on these problems". This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by the Chairman of the Road Safety Institute Bogdan Milchev.
"The Chairman of the Transport Commission arranges secret meetings with informal protest leaders and makes secret agreements. We understand about these secret meetings and insist on being present through other parties", he also pointed out.
Milchev emphasized that the local people called this part of the road, near Telish, "the section of death" many years ago. However, according to him, there is the "Telish paradox":
"On the one hand, we have a section of death. On the other hand, we have a protest that is being prepared for tomorrow. On the third hand, it is not clear who we are protesting against and what. The protest against the state is a protest against ourselves. The state is represented by institutions, and they are represented by people. We cannot protest against the National Assembly building or against the RIA building. The protest is against the people who run these institutions".
According to him, protests are always a problem when they do not fulfill their goals and when there are hidden goals behind them. He pointed out that there is corruption in the three main institutions responsible for the transport system.
"These people who are involved in this corruption create their own avatars to shape public opinion and direct it in a direction convenient for them", Milchev emphasized in an interview for the program "Horizont do obed".
There is no way to prove this corruption, because the one who has to prove it is part of it, he explained the problem. And he expressed the opinion that the only thing that can be done is to shine a light on this corruption:
"It is only afraid of light and noise. This corruption is not afraid of an investigation, because it is not investigated".
The responsibility for safety lies with the provider of the transport system - RIA, DAI and KATC, Bogdan Milchev pointed out and continued his comment:
"These institutions are run by people with names. They are not run by ghosts. When we protest, we should protest against a specific subject, not against an object, because when we protest against an object we waste the energy of the protest and the civic energy that we have".
Milchev again called on the institutions to do their job, and if they cannot - to hold them accountable.
