The Government granted a derogation to "Kozloduy" NPP for the supply of steel and metal from Russia, the press center of the Council of Ministers announced.
At its meeting today, the Cabinet of Ministers approved at its meeting today a derogation from Art. Зж, paragraph 1, Art. Зи, paragraph 1 and Art. 5к, paragraph 1 of Council Regulation (EU) No. 833/2014 concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia's actions destabilizing the situation in Ukraine.
The derogation allows "Kozloduy" NPP to conclude a public procurement contract with a selected contractor, according to the annex to today's decision. The power plant will be able to import from Russia iron and steel products necessary for the implementation of the contract, also listed in the annexes to today's decision, news.bg specified.
The Ministry of Energy explains that the guarantor of nuclear safety and accident-free electricity production is the regular supplies of elements and parts from designers, constructors and manufacturers of the equipment installed at the power plant. Since a large part of the systems and equipment at the power plant are of Russian origin, some of the contracts for the supply of goods related to the reliable and safe operation of units 5 and 6 of the Kozloduy NPP have been concluded or need to be concluded with Russian contractors.
