Yotova announces the name of the caretaker prime minister by the end of the week - 1

After the consultations with the parliamentary parties, which ended yesterday, President Iliana Yotova is about to decide who she will assign to form a caretaker cabinet.

As part of the procedure over the past two weeks, the head of state first spoke with all 10 possible candidates from whom he could choose a caretaker prime minister, and then met with representatives of the parliamentary groups in the 51st National Assembly.

"The nomination of the candidate for caretaker prime minister is imminent, which will happen literally in the coming days", Iliana Yotova announced yesterday at the end of the consultations with the parliamentary groups.

Five of the possible candidates have already confirmed to the president that they are ready to organize the elections. These are the Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank Andrey Gyurov, the Deputy Ombudsman Maria Filipova, the Chairman of the Court of Accounts Dimitar Glavchev and his deputies Margarita Nikolova and Silvia Kadreva.

After choosing a candidate, Yotova will hand him a mandate to form a caretaker cabinet. The nominee will have to present a government composition, which the president will approve.

The date of the elections for the 52nd National Assembly also depends on the decree of the head of state to appoint a caretaker government. A possible date is April 19, which means that the caretaker cabinet should be appointed by February 19 in order to organize the elections within two months.
