Yani Makulev - the father of 15-year-old Alexander, who was found dead in Ivaylo Kalushev's camper under Okolchitsa Peak, spoke to bTV. To this day, he trusts Kalushev and has not changed his opinion about him.
15-year-old Alexander was enrolled in the private school "Kosmos" in 2023. His father does not deny that he was often absent.
However, the school was not chosen only by the boy's parents, but by recommendation. According to our information, in her interrogation with investigators, the mother of 15-year-old Alexander said that he was enrolled in the private school "Kosmos" by Kalushev.
„We chose it together with Ivaylo Kalushev and my wife and I decided that this was a good choice that would give our child the opportunity to both get an education and have time to practice sports and activities“, said Yani Makulev.
„I still believe in Ivaylo Kalushev despite what is being reported in the media. I have not changed my opinion on the matter. I do not intend to argue. I have decided so internally and this is my opinion“, he added.
However, why Kalushev recommends the school to Alexander's parents is unclear. Yani Makulev says that he does not know that he has any serious connection with the educational institution.
„We have not spoken regarding the school itself. In my opinion, this is one of the few or the only place where teachers, children and parents are in complete harmony“, pointed out Alexander's father.
In front of our team yesterday, the school director denied that she was close to Ivaylo Kalushev, nor that they worked together.
„I learned from the media that he had published on his page that he recommended our school. He said we were partners, but we weren't partners," Tatyana Zaharieva explained yesterday.
We called Zaharieva on the same phone number we had spoken to her on multiple occasions over the past week.
Today, however, another woman picked up the phone, explaining that the school's principal was not answering the phone and did not want to speak to journalists.
Meanwhile, it also became clear that 15-year-old Alexander's education at the private school "Kosmos" was completely free.
“His education did not require funding, he is on a scholarship program and did not require funding“, explained Yani Makulev, adding that the education was both in-person and out-of-person.
According to Makulev, it is impossible for teachers at the private school to not have the necessary education.
The Ministry of Education and Science is continuing its inspection of the school today, and it is still unclear what actions they will take.
