Atanas Atanasov, BSP: The Petrokhan case is the defeat of the state at all levels - 1

The tragedy near Petrokhan should not be politicized or become an element of someone's political campaign. This was said on “This Sunday“ by BSP MP Atanas Atanasov. According to him, however, on the surface of this case, “the defeat of the state at all levels“ surfaced.

“In Petrokhan we saw an NGO that not only its name, but also its functions are approaching state ones. In the end, it turned out that this is a heavily armed sect with suspicions of pedophilia. Here we are talking about the great failure of the right and the neoliberal order as a whole“, he also said.

The MP commented that scant information on the case was presented in parliament. According to him, the first task of the next political majority is to restore trust in the institutions, because currently trust in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the services and the prosecutor's office is critically low.

Asked if this means replacing Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, Atanasov answered in the affirmative and added that this should be one of the main tasks of the new government. When asked “Where is Daniel Mitov“, he said: “I have no idea“.

“I believe that Mayor Vasil Terziev should have resigned a long time ago, as he clearly cannot cope with the governance of Sofia. We saw it with the garbage crisis. The series of mistakes is becoming fatal, nothing has been happening in our capital for three years“, the MP added.

Atanasov admitted that the BSP group in parliament was not united regarding the amendments to the Electoral Code and the reduction of sections abroad, and he himself voted “against“. He also said that the election of a new chairman of the left will give a new direction to the socialists. And if the texts are returned by President Iliana Yotova – they may vote differently.

Regarding the official cabinet and the information that Borislav Gutsanov from the BSP may remain in his post in the social ministry, Atanasov said that the information is unofficial, but if this becomes a fact – will be discussed during the party's national council and will be put to a vote.

He commented that the left has not yet started the process of drawing up the lists for the upcoming elections. According to him, Rumen Radev is a suitable partner, but it must first be seen where he will position his party.
