Diver about the missing ship in the Black Sea: For me, it is at the bottom - 1

The search for the three fishermen who disappeared in the sea between Sozopol and Primorsko continues. The signal from their ship's radars was lost on Wednesday before noon.

Yesterday, an oil slick was discovered in the area where the vessel was last spotted. Captain Hristo Spasov, together with his 25-year-old son and a third member of the crew, went shark hunting on Monday, despite being dissuaded by their relatives. Yesterday, teams were mobilized in the Sozopol and Primorsko regions, patrolling the coast in the hope of finding the fishermen.

The ship has not yet been found, but there are suggestions that it is at the bottom of the sea - at a depth of about 30 meters and approximately 5 kilometers from the coast.

Experienced diver Nayden Nedev reported that during an inspection of the area, a spot of fuel was noticed near the place where the vessel's signal disappeared.

We found a spot of oil spill, which shows us that the ship is somewhere in the area“, said Nedev.

According to him, the depth of the place is about 28 meters, and the bottom is flat, with sand or silt. He specified that he had not had the opportunity to conduct a detailed underwater inspection.

“I could not see anything on the sonar. "I didn't have enough time to explore the area," the diver said.

Nedev added that the likelihood of the stain coming from another source was small: "In this area, the likelihood of there being a stain from something else is minimal. I can't say 100%, but for me the ship is down there, sunken."

According to him, diving work at this depth is not easy and a large-scale survey is needed first to establish the exact location of the ship.

In the meantime, patrols along the coast continue. The mayor of Sozopol Municipality, Tihomir Yanakiev, said that the volunteer activities will not be stopped.

„The patrols will continue. We started on Wednesday late afternoon, when it was already clear that there was a tragedy“, said Yanakiev.

According to him, eight teams were formed yesterday, which toured the entire coastal territory of the municipality.

„We toured the coastal territory of the municipality, we did not find anything that would indicate a shipwreck“, the mayor pointed out.

He also confirmed the information about the discovered fuel stain: “The volunteer – Nayden, the diver who joined us at sea, discovered something that I think is worrying – a fuel stain, approximately to the last known coordinates of the ship.“

The mayor emphasized that he expects the competent institutions – – – Border Police“ and – Maritime Administration“ – to shed more light on the case.

A Turkish ship from the nearest port – Ineada is also participating in the search operation.

The search continues, and information about the possible discovery of the vessel remains unconfirmed at this time. Hopes are for a resolution, although the likelihood of a favorable outcome decreases with each passing day.
