The legal committee in parliament rejected the veto of Vice President Iliana Yotova on the changes to the Electoral Code, and according to the MP from "Continuing the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" Yavor Bozhankov, no surprise should be expected in the plenary hall.
He predicts that the signals from the BSP indicate the preservation of the current line of behavior, regardless of public requests.
"I read the news "BSP boycotts its new leader". There is no news here. The BSP is not boycotting its new leader. Obviously the BSP are loyal to their old master, unfortunately. To put it so extremely rudely and in slang - there is no hope. Obviously, this line of behavior in the service of Borisov and Peevski, even though the cabinet has already fallen, will continue until the end. The end will be terrible and ugly," Bozhankov said in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR."
Anniversary of the war in Ukraine
At the beginning of the conversation, the MP diverted the topic to the anniversary of the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
"Today marks four years since the war in Ukraine, since the Russian aggression. Four years later, I am worried that our society, and the whole world in general, has become accustomed to war. As if it is something normal - it is not something normal. "After Russia failed to win the war in three days, it is obviously not succeeding at the front either, and in recent days things have even been going badly for them, they started fighting with apartment blocks, kindergartens, schools, energy infrastructure and civilians," the guest commented to Bulgaria ON AIR.
Bozhankov recalled that together with colleagues from DSB and "Democratic Bulgaria" have organized a symbolic action in front of the Russian Embassy, where they left children's shoes in memory of the victims.
The caretaker cabinet and the prosecutor's office
On the topic of the caretaker government, Bozhankov said that he sees no reason to claim that it is under the control of certain political figures.
According to him, a large part of the appointments are not party-related, and the attacks on individual ministers show more of a desire to discredit.
He gave an example of the actions of the prosecutor's office against the Minister of the Interior, which, according to him, were lightning-fast and indicative.
"The prosecutor's office is activated. Oh, what a surprise. The prosecutor's office took out its bat and started attacking the Minister of the Interior. Well, how many people will agree to participate in a caretaker cabinet, to be interior ministers, knowing that they automatically become the target of the most severe repressive instrument in the state? Of course, these people are few and in my opinion they deserve respect, esteem and support", emphasized Bozhankov.
The tragedy near Petrokhan and the services
In his comment on the tragedy near Petrokhan, Bozhankov emphasized that one should not rush to draw political conclusions.
"I saw an emanation of our state machine. This boy, who in my opinion is a hero, tells a story, his own mother doesn't even believe him, shares it with state authorities. They had data then - not only about his story, about a minor. Could they have used the entire operational arsenal they had? They didn't use it. What do they do? They forward the signal by competence - child protection, DANS, inspection. Every state authority, upon receiving a signal, first tries to transfer it to some other institution by competence, if it can't stop it. "We see this blocked state machine here," the MP believes.
The MP insisted that the National Security Agency should be depoliticized and reformed, with the services focusing on national security, not on participation in political conflicts.
