"We are in contact with all allies, all our embassies and diplomatic missions in the region. We have detailed evacuation plans that were updated even before the conflict began. We have a serious report on how many Bulgarian citizens are in the region". This was announced at a briefing at the Council of Ministers by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs - Nadezhda Neynski, quoted by bTV.
In Lebanon there are 498, in Iran there are a total of 47 Bulgarian citizens and 14 Iranians, who are subject to evacuation. In Israel, persons with Bulgarian citizenship permanently residing there are over 10,000. According to her, their real number exceeds this figure several times. Over 95% of them have dual citizenship and do not speak Bulgarian.
There are 140 Bulgarian citizens and 360 with dual citizenship residing in Iraq. In Qatar - 300 Bulgarian citizens, 185 of whom are registered with the embassy. In total, 11,400 Bulgarian citizens reside in the conflict area.
"We are discussing crossing the country's land border with the government of Azerbaijan. We have experience since 2025, when we carried out evacuations from Iran, Israel and Denmark," said Nadezhda Neynski.
