Nadezhda Yordanova asked Andrey Yankulov to propose Borislav Sarafov's deputy - 1

The acting Minister of Justice Andrey Yankulov can propose a specific person to temporarily act as Prosecutor General. This is within his powers. If no other eligible person does so, I am convinced that Minister Yankulov will reach this stage. This was stated in the program “Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov” by the co-chairman of the PP-DB PG Nadezhda Yordanova.

She commented that Yankulov's efforts “to restore legality in the management of the Prosecutor's Office” should be supported.

According to Yordanova, the problem is not in the existence of two bodies in the SJC, the problem is in the proportions. She recalled that the division of the Supreme Judicial Council into two chambers took place in 2015. “The then majority - GERB with the help of ABV - changed the proportions in which the chambers were to be divided. The initial idea was for the Judicial Chamber to have parity between judges elected by the judges and members elected by the National Assembly. And for the Prosecutorial Chamber to have a slight preponderance of members elected by the National Assembly, so that the prosecution service would not be closed and prosecutors would not be dependent on the Prosecutor General”, said Yordanova.

”Nowhere in the world in democratic countries do endless mandates exist, much less for the perpetually acting Prosecutor General. This is legally and socially intolerable”, said Yordanova. “I believe that Yankulov will continue to insist that this issue be resolved.

Regarding prosecutor Teodora Georgieva, Yordanova said: “I am concerned that the Bulgarian prosecutor who joined the European Public Prosecutor's Office was apparently appointed through a flawed procedure. This casts a shadow on the ability of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian authorities to exercise their powers and to appoint people with integrity. This must be investigated, as must this whole story about the “Eight Dwarfs” and the “Five Euros” be fully established, and those responsible must be punished”.
