Bulgarian in Qatar: Everyone would like to leave the country, but we do not have this opportunity - 1

Over 11,000 Bulgarians live in the area of the escalating conflict in the Middle East, according to data from the Bulgarian authorities. Iran's retaliatory strikes did not pass by Qatar, where new attacks were registered in the early hours of today, and the country remains in a state of heightened alert, Nova TV reports.

Yordanka Dimitrova, who lives in the capital Doha, announced on the air of “Sabùg se” that the new attacks began around 7:30 a.m. local time. “The attacks continued throughout the night. It is calm at the moment, but a few minutes ago we received a message from the government that we should stay at home or indoors and avoid all public places,” she said.

According to her, there is currently no information about deaths on the territory of Qatar, but there is information about injured citizens. She added that according to information broadcast on local television, new attacks were also directed at Dubai and Bahrain.

The situation in Qatar is greatly complicated by the complete suspension of air transport. “The airspace is closed and all flights have been canceled. I do not see any possibility of evacuation at the moment”, shared Dimitrova.

The only land route to exit the country is the border with Saudi Arabia, but according to the Bulgarian this is currently “a dangerous action”. She emphasized that despite its small territory, Qatar is trying to take care of the security of all people, including the numerous tourists in the country.

Yordanka Dimitrova maintains constant contact with other compatriots in Doha. “Everyone would like to leave the country because of the growing conflict, but I don't see such an opportunity”, she explained.

Despite the tension, residents in the region hope for a quick diplomatic solution. “I believe that a diplomatic solution to this problem will be found as soon as possible, since it affects many countries”, concluded Yordanka Dimitrova.
