Andrey Yankulov: Resolving the issue of replacing the Prosecutor General cannot be the subject of political negotiations - 1

The issue of replacing the de facto acting Prosecutor General, which weighs heavily on our justice system, is not party-political. Its resolution cannot and should not be the subject of political negotiations, in order to be left to wait for a future redistribution of power that is capable of achieving them. This was published on his Facebook page by the acting Minister of Justice Andrey Yankulov, quoted by "Focus".

According to the minister, the only thing that is being discussed is the restoration of some ordinary normality.

"In which Bulgaria would have an acting Prosecutor General who does not act as Prosecutor General in violation of the law, is recognized as such by the supreme judges and there is no documented information about him that he spoke to European prosecutors at a meeting within the framework of an important disciplinary procedure about how the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office has evidence of corruption of the Bulgarian European Prosecutor," he added.

"However, the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office has not raised any charges of corruption against the Bulgarian European Prosecutor. Why has it not raised them, if there is such evidence? Why did he say this if he didn't?", the acting minister also wrote and added:

"Do we even realize the seriousness of this revelation, while we are dealing with all sorts of other more or less important issues surrounding the public appearance of the Bulgarian European Prosecutor that day? It was left without any comment a day later by the chief and city prosecutors directly affected by it. Our justice system is literally suffocating under the weight of this current situation and in order to breathe, it must be suspended as soon as possible".
