Ivaylo Kalfin: We are at the beginning of a very severe price crisis - 1

Due to the high prices, President Iliana Yotova is meeting on Monday with the management of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) and the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC).

"We should not expect that the official authorities will solve the problem with the price shock. We are only at the beginning of a very severe crisis", warned former Social Minister Ivaylo Kalfin in the program "Denyat ON AIR".

According to him, the measures should be the first task of the next government.

"20 euros is a good measure, but they will not solve anything. The war in Iran will be much more severe on the energy markets than the war in Ukraine," he emphasized. The former social minister said that we must prepare for difficult times.

"The point of having a government is to have control over the budget for four years. It is very easy to spend another billion, but then it comes out of our noses", Kalfin emphasized.

"In addition to direct aid, which should be for the most needy, something can be done with taxes, measures can be taken with state spending, European measures can be sought. There are many tools in the bag, but someone must be responsible", he commented.

According to him, in the pre-election situation, the caretaker government cannot be responsible. "People's main expectations are for changes to be made in the judicial system", Kalfin told Bulgaria ON AIR.

He added that we are in yet another election campaign in which not many ideas and active policies are heard.

"I am one of those people who read this boring reading, which are the election platforms. It strikes me that there are no concrete answers there", Kalfin noted. The former social minister emphasized that we must have a prosecutor's office and a judiciary that we can all trust.

"We can change the faces as much as we want. Obviously, changing the faces is not enough. A functioning judicial system will mean very positive news for the economy and the self-esteem of the state,", he said.
