Georgi Kandev: If today even one person believed that his vote matters - then it was worth it

"I worked with the clear thought that every action or inaction matters. That behind every ballot there is a person. We did everything in our power to make this process more honest. More protected. I know that one battle does not fix an entire system. But I know that every change begins with a refusal to reconcile", is categorical the acting chief secretary of the Ministry of Interior

Georgi Kandev: If today even one person believed that his vote matters - then it was worth it - 1

We gave our all. Not as an excuse. I was absolutely aware of how deeply people's trust in the electoral process has been cracked. The attempts to buy votes were also clear to me. This was written on his Facebook profile by the chief secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Ch. Commissioner Georgi Kandev, quoted by "Focus".

During the election campaign for the parliamentary elections on April 19, he published daily information about the actions of the Ministry of Interior against the bought vote.

"In the short time I had, I did not allow myself a single day of comfort. Not a moment of hesitation", he also wrote.

"I worked with the clear thought that every action or inaction matters. That behind every ballot there is a person. We did everything in our power to make this process more honest. More protected. I know that one battle does not fix an entire system. But I know that every change begins with a refusal to reconcile,", Kandev is categorical.

According to him, there was pressure and resistance.

"But not only. With colleagues from all over the country, we have proven that the system is not lost. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support and faith of Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov and the political leadership of the Ministry of Interior, headed by Minister Emil Dechev," he adds.

"I am not claiming that we have managed to change everything. But I can say that we did not bend. We did not close our eyes. We did not give up. And if today even one person has believed that his vote matters - then it was worth it," writes Georgi Kandev.

"Bulgaria deserves a fair election. Not tomorrow. Not someday. Now," he concludes.
