Snowfall has fallen very close to Sofia. In the area of the "Aleko" hut, at about 1800 meters above sea level, in Vitosha there is already a fragile snow cover. This is shown by real-time surveillance cameras.
Snowfall in October is not an anomaly, say forecasters – cold snaps in autumn often cause snow in the higher mountain belt.
