The President handed PP-DB the second mandate to form a government.
We propose Academician Denkov again for Prime Minister. This was stated by the co-chairman of Continuing the Change Kiril Petkov before the President Rumen Radev.
Then Radev handed over the mandate to Denkov. The resigned Prime Minister immediately returned the mandate with the explanation that GERB and DPS do not want reforms, but elections.
"I will return the mandate unfulfilled,
since in the current National Assembly there is no longer any support even for the management program that we adopted with GERB-SDS 9 months ago. There is also no support for the reforms that were the basis for the formation of this government.
The GERB-DPS coalition actually wants elections and this is the result of their desire. The negotiations were conducted pro forma with the clear awareness that the country should be sent to elections,'' said the resigned Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov upon returning the mandate.
„To my great regret, the first term was a failure because the colleagues from GERB-SDS did not keep their agreement,” commented PP-DB co-chairman Kiril Petkov. He made it clear that the coalition would not participate in negotiations to form a third-term government and called on the president to schedule the 2-in-1 election to save money.
Rumen Radev replied that he will do everything possible in the process of choosing an office
not to turn into a constitutional crisis.
The narrow circle of possibilities for acting prime minister narrowed even more today with the resignation of the deputy ombudsman Elena Cherneva – Markova, and she was the only figure who is neither indirectly nor directly close to any political party. The turning of the roulette with the mandates came after the failure of the negotiations between GERB-SDS and PP-DB. At an extraordinary meeting, the parliament decided that the first mandate of GERB-SDS was unsuccessful.
This happened after the nominee for Prime Minister Maria Gabriel withdrew her candidacy.
PP-DB issued an invitation for a new general government with a candidate for Prime Minister of GERB, but the answer was categorical and negative. Earlier today, PP-DB announced that they will return the folder incomplete because we do not have the support to form a government.

This morning in front of BNT gen. Atanas Atanasov confirmed that they will return the folder empty today.
Yesterday, the coalition came up with a new proposal to GERB-SDS to jointly form a cabinet, headed by a mutually acceptable prime minister from GERB, without changing any of the previous ministers. The largest parliamentary force categorically rejected the offer and announced that it will not participate in attempts to form a government - neither with the second nor with the third mandate.
