Friday's meeting of the People's Representatives will begin with a hearing from the chairman of the National Statistical Institute Atanas Atanasov, Dariknews.bg reports.

He will report to the deputies the statistical indicators related to the actions taken by the government of the Republic of Bulgaria for the adoption of the euro and the country's entry into the Eurozone.

The hearing was initiated by deputies from "Vazrazhdane" and it comes against the background of the political crisis in the country, which, according to experts, is very likely to affect the processes of our acceptance into the Eurozone.
However, the Ministry of Finance recently published for public discussion the draft Law on the introduction of the euro in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The bill stipulates that on the date of introduction of the euro in Bulgaria, all accounts – current, deposit, savings and other accounts in local banks will be converted once, automatically and free of charge into euros at the official exchange rate. From the day of the introduction of the euro, account holders will be able to withdraw from them only euros, regardless of whether the withdrawal will be made through an ATM/POS device or at the office of a bank, payment institution, etc.
From the date of the introduction of the euro, it is envisaged that the payment of remunerations, benefits, cash and social benefits, as well as pensions will be made in euros.
