“Today marks 20 years since Bulgaria joined NATO. Currently, propaganda continues to tell us how this is the only form of guarantee for national security. The truth is that Bulgaria has never been more threatened than at this moment, precisely because of its membership in NATO. "NATO is an anti-Russian, military, aggressive, not a defensive bloc," Kostadin Kostadinov, the chairman of "Vazrazhdane", said at a briefing from the National Assembly.
He pointed out that Macron, the leader of France, which is one of the five great powers, has stated directly and categorically that he will send troops to Ukraine.
According to Kostadinov, the same will happen to Bulgaria, which is already a frontline country. According to him, what needs to be done in order to ensure Bulgaria's national security is for our country to immediately leave this aggressive, military bloc, reports the party.
“The paradox is that NATO, in practice, disarmed Bulgaria, destroyed the Bulgarian military-industrial complex, forbade us to develop, even future, theoretical weapons, destroying the Research Institute of the BAS, reducing the Bulgarian army 4 times after our entry into NATO. Out of 45,000 people, the Bulgarian army is currently 15,000 and we are told that all this is to make us stronger. How? By selling our guns, cutting them up and not buying any armaments? During the period in which Bulgaria was part of the Warsaw Pact, our country received 400 licenses for the production of weapons. Everything we produce and have produced is because of these licenses. All these weapons were given to us for free and Bulgaria earned tens of billions of BGN. Do you know how many military licenses NATO has granted us - zero. Do you know how much heavy weaponry NATO has given us for free - zero. How many planes - zero. "The only thing we got were 7 Hummers and 2 inflatable boats," Kostadinov said.
The most correct line of action, according to the chairman of “Revival” is the proposal submitted by the political force to leave the aggressive military bloc, and he emphasized that, unlike the rulers with a totalitarian mindset, it is proper for such a decision to be taken after consulting the public, through a referendum.
“We were not asked whether to enter the Warsaw Pact, we were not asked whether to enter the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance. In the same way, they did not ask us whether to join the European Union and NATO. Someone always usurps the right to speak on our behalf, it can't be like that anymore, Kostadinov also commented.
