The President of NSI Assoc. Dr. Atanas Atanasov met with representatives of the “Vazrazhdane” party. The reason for the meeting with the people's representatives Dimo Drenchev, Yordan Todorov, Boris Aladjov and the municipal councilor in SOS Deyan Nikolov were the doubts of some members of the party regarding the calculation of inflation for the country.
The chairman of NSI comprehensively answered all the questions of the guests from “Vazrazhdane“ for gross domestic product, the study of household budgets, explained the methodology for calculating inflation, of interest to them.
„My whole life is a statistic. I am a university professor and I do not deal with politics. I will not allow any influence and attempts to interfere with the work of the NSI“, Assoc. Atanasov pointed out when asked whether it can be influenced when calculating inflation.
The representatives of “Revival“ requested detailed information on the methodology, the consumer basket and how inflation is calculated. The two parties agreed that NSI will provide the requested information through official channels as soon as possible after it is officially requested.
Furthermore, Prof. Atanasov promised to invite them to a meeting with Eurostat representatives during the upcoming autumn visit, the purpose of which is precisely the methodology for calculating inflation and the data obtained.
Earlier today, the chairman of “Revival“ announced that it had received a letter from former NSI employees describing “irregularities” in the work of the institution. After a check, it was found that the signatures do not correspond to the ones they put in the institutional documents.
