The Central Election Commission (CEC) must announce today the polling places abroad for the “two in one” elections, in the countries that have held at least one election up to five years before election day polling station in which no less than 100 voters voted, according to the Central Election Commission's chronogram, BTA reported.
The CEC announces a list of places outside the country for the elections for members of the European Parliament only in EU member states.
Bulgarian citizens residing in non-EU countries can also vote in early parliamentary elections.
Electoral sections outside the country are formed in the diplomatic and consular representations of our country, as well as when no less than 40 applications for voting abroad are submitted, according to the Election Code. At the discretion of the heads of diplomatic and consular missions, based on the total number of submitted applications or the total number of those who voted in previous elections, including when the number of submitted applications for a specific location is less than 40, a reasoned proposal for disclosure of sections to the Central Election Commission no later than 22 days before election day, the law also states.
Organizations of Bulgarian citizens can make proposals for the location of polling stations to the heads of diplomatic and consular missions no later than May 14, 2024.
By May 18, 2024, the CEC must determine the number of sections and polling places outside the country.
Bulgarian citizens who have the right and wish to vote in both types of elections must fill out an application by May 14. It can be signed by hand and submitted personally to the diplomatic or consular representation of Bulgaria in the respective country; sent by letter by post or by courier service to the diplomatic or consular representation in the country concerned, and there may be more than one application in one letter, but only one person may be entered in each application; submitted electronically, via the website of the CEC.
Until today, the CEC also appoints the regional election commissions in the country.
