The head of state Rumen Radev opened the international tournament Sofia Karate Open 2024 - President's Cup. The competition is being held for the 11th time and this year brought together over 1,500 participants from 20 countries, BTA reports.
The tournament "Sofia Karate Open" is part of the events included in the initiative of the head of state "Sport with the president". It encourages and supports physical activity among Bulgarian children and youth through extracurricular sports activities.
The 11th edition of the competition is organized by the most successful karate club in Bulgaria for the last 15 years, KK Tsanev, together with the Presidency of the Republic of Bulgaria and with "Sofia – world capital of sports". The competition is one of the most prestigious in Europe and once again gathers many world and European champions and medalists.
For some countries, Sofia Karate Open 2024 is a qualifying tournament for the upcoming Cadet, Junior and Girls World Championships for men and women under 21, which is scheduled for the end of the year in Lido di Jesolo (Italy).
