A working group formed by the Ministry of Agriculture and the branch organizations will prepare an entirely new Act on cooperatives.
According to the industry, this is a better option than changing the currently effective law, BNR writes. The aim of cooperation is to achieve better economic results for farmers and better market positions for producers.
Participants in the working group agreed that entirely new co-operative legislation would be slower, but a better option for the industry than changing an existing co-operative law. They discussed the need to regulate the functions and activities of cooperatives, as a form of associations of individuals and legal entities from the sector.
According to the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Kiril Vatev, the association will optimize costs in the agro-food chain, provide an opportunity for successful implementation and achieve a lower cost of production for farmers.
The new normative act should take into account the peculiarities of the activities of cooperatives of agricultural producers, as well as protect the interests of all their participants.
It is planned to prepare an analysis of the current situation in our country, as well as to study the experience of France and Italy in the field of cooperation.
