Ivaylo Mirchev: It turned out that the president has influence, but he does not want to apply it - 1

Certain circles did not want the reforms to continue in any way. This worried Delyan Peevski - so he would lose his influence. The decision to go to elections was Mr. Peevski's, not the negotiation teams'.

This is what the deputy from "Democratic Bulgaria" told BNT. Ivaylo Mirchev, quoted by novini.bg.

"Two years ago, we said that we would talk to everyone regarding the changes to the Constitution. We did what we had promised, and the changes to the Constitution were adopted," he added.

According to him, there cannot be a vote of no confidence. What needs to happen is to have a normal government that will hold normal elections.

"Daniel Mitov works quite well, we were together with him in Ukraine. However, the composition of this government is not a matter for political leaders, but a matter between the Prime Minister and the President. The big problem was the interior minister – the conduct of the elections depends on him", he is categorical.

"The president refused to appoint another foreign minister and change the minister of agriculture, but if you remember he said he couldn't interfere in this, and now it turns out he can. It turned out that the president has influence, but he doesn't want to use it," commented Mirchev.

On the occasion of the serious corruption scandals, Mirchev stated: "No one should have an umbrella over anyone. When someone has done something wrong, it should always be fully investigated. This has not yet happened in our country. Bankova, Kotsev, etc. – let the court do its job and if there are violations they will get their punishments. Regarding Boyko Rashkov – I don't have the impression that he is a serious smuggler, but I have the impression that Peevski started the election campaign early and brought the prosecutor's office into it."
