Yoncheva: Ninova's dependencies have long been shining - 1

Cornelia Ninova and the leadership of the BSP did everything possible to repel all of us who do not agree with the direction , which the chairman of the party leads. This is unfortunately very sad, because both Petar Vitanov, and Ivo Hristov, and Sergey Stanishev, and Tsvetelina Penkova, all of them fought very hard battles in the European Parliament, each on their own topics. They have great respect here among colleagues because they are some of the most active MEPs. All of them have done so much not only for their country, but they have worked on issues from which, as the opposition, the BSP has benefited enormously. All these people are crushed and thrown away, unfortunately.

This is what he commented in the program "Bulgaria, Europe and the world in focus" on Radio "Focus" MEP Elena Yoncheva.

In her words, what is happening in the BSP is shocking: "People with different opinions are simply thrown out. And I think that the only thing that can be said as a finding, if you ask who thinks what about BSP - look at the results. Look at the results of the party, it has distanced itself from everything social, it is chasing genders, the results are clear".

When asked how she would respond to BSP leader Kornelia Ninova's comment regarding Elena Yoncheva's nomination as an MEP from the DPS, "that addictions fade sooner or later,", she said the following: "She is right about herself. Unfortunately, with her, they have long since faded, and I will give you a few examples. First, the resolution on Bulgaria, which I voted for, what is this resolution? For the first time in the European Parliament, it was said that in Bulgaria there is a very serious problem with the rule of law, with law, with media freedom. This was a huge blow against the then rulers in Bulgaria. Regarding this resolution, I did not have the support of Ninova. And that's why I say the exact opposite.

By the way, after we voted on this resolution, she came out with a very negative comment. And such a resolution, a resolution for Bulgaria, we had great opposition here from the right, from the EPP, in fact it would have been a great tool for any political opposition and it was not used. Another thing, when we talk about addictions, I was invited to become a member of the monitoring group here in the European Parliament, there are only 14 people in it from the whole European Parliament. As a result of my membership in this group, I raised the issue of Bulgaria being under surveillance. And you know that there were several visits of this monitoring group to Bulgaria, meeting with journalists, with representatives of various political parties, with the non-governmental sector. And then, all the conclusions reached by my colleagues were presented to the LIBE commission (European Commission on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs) and then the European Commission, as a result of these conclusions, also formed its policy towards Bulgaria. I didn't get any support here either," explained Elena Yoncheva.

The MEP emphasized that accepting the DPS nomination is in no way a sign that her desire is to be in politics at any cost: "In no case at any cost. In any case, what I set as a condition to accept this nomination is first, to be able to work on the topics I have worked on up to this point. These are topics that are important for Bulgaria, such as stopping uncontrolled migration, stopping human trafficking, channeling. Effective measures against corruption at national and European level, protection of journalists from censorship and political persecution".

Elena Yoncheva added that on all these topics she achieved an extremely big breakthrough in the European Parliament: "Only human trafficking, this is a topic that is yet to come, this is a bill that is yet to be worked on. The second condition I set for DPS is not only that I have the opportunity to continue working on the topics I have worked on, but also that I have the freedom to work so that there is no political interference. And that's why I got consent".
