There is an increased police presence across the country today. Inspections will continue until the end of holidays and weekends. The action is against high speeds, but drivers will also be tested for alcohol and drugs.
In Sliven, traffic in the early hours of the day is unexpectedly intense, bTV clarifies. On the Sofia - Burgas road, there is an increased police presence in the sections with the most offenders.
„According to holidays and weekends, we carry out round-the-clock checks on drivers in connection with alcohol, drugs and speeding”, explained senior inspector Mitko Minchev.
According to him, in recent days the police have caught several drivers who were driving at an excess speed of more than 90 km/h.
„At a 60km/h speed limit, our cameras caught drivers driving at 134km/h, 146km/h and 152km/h. We stop absolutely all cars, including foreigners”, Inspector Minchev also said.
He also emphasized that law enforcement officers also check buses and trucks for transporting migrants, but in recent months they have not found such cases.
„I often travel along this stretch. You drive at high speeds here. There are many shocking cases," a driver stopped for inspection on the Sub-Balkan Road told bTV.
