Asen Vassilev: NIIs are trying to steal BGN 100 million from Bulgarian pensioners - 1

A draft report of the Supervisory Board has leaked in the last few days Council of the National Insurance Institute (NII). In it NOI are trying to steal BGN 100 million from Bulgarian pensioners by not increasing pensions by 11 percent, but by ten percent. This was stated in Ruse by the MP from the "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" coalition. Asen Vassilev, quoted by BTA.

In his words, eight leva will be taken from each pensioner every month until the end of the year, and this will continue into the next year.

"They are trying to hide the fact that inflation was lower. I read from the website of the National Institute of National Statistics, as it says - the consumer price index is the index that was applied when drawing up the state budget. So there is no reason to take eight BGN from the pensioners every month in order to most likely give it to some close companies", Vassilev pointed out and defined this as "direct theft and an absolute scandal". He stated that the money is in the budget, it is provided.

"We are collecting signatures to hold an extraordinary meeting of the National Assembly to make a decision to oblige the National Institute of Public Health and the Government to implement the budget as it is written," announced Asen Vassilev.

The co-chairman of the parliamentary group of "Continuing the change - Democratic Bulgaria" Kiril Petkov stated that "GERB has actually been back in power for a month and now they want to steal 100 million from pensioners". "We will not allow them. We are calling an extraordinary session of the Parliament and will oblige the Council of Ministers to pay the 100 million to the pensioners, as stipulated in the budget," said Petkov.

According to the deputy from the coalition Nikolay Denkov, people are also scared by raising the price of electricity. According to him, there is no reason for this, since "the funds were secured, they were transferred, and then the next Council of Ministers canceled the decision".

"Today we understand that competitions that were extremely difficult, very serious and public for trade attachés abroad have been cancelled. They are important for companies to find partners and to be able to export production. All this happens in two or three days. We want to find out who is responsible for this - whether it is the Council of Ministers, whether it is the Prime Minister, or some people behind who are pulling the strings", Denkov also commented.
