Rumen Gechev: BSP supports all European initiatives and policies that benefit Bulgaria - 1

„The BSP is doing everything possible to improve the economic level and the standard of living in our common home. We are proud of the fact that the Prime Minister is from the BSP submitted the official application for membership in the EU and we became members under the Prime Minister of the BSP. We support all European initiatives and policies that are beneficial for Bulgaria. This was stated by the candidate for MEP from the BSP for Bulgaria Gechev on bTV, quoted by the party's press center.

He explained that the BSP's position on the Eurozone is that Bulgaria should become a member, but when our country is not in last place in terms of economic indicators, but approaches the average.

„What are the facts - according to Eurostat, not according to propaganda – the economic growth of the euro area in the last 10 years is lower than the economic growth of EU member countries, but not of the euro area – Denmark and Sweden. They have already rejected with a referendum to accept the euro, and countries like Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary are not even discussing this issue”, pointed out Prof. Gechev.

According to him, Bulgaria is the worst example of opening the gap between rich and poor, despite European funding, as it is unique in the EU with its flat tax.

„In the other countries where European money goes, there is progressive taxation, and it is indisputable in world economic theory that progressive taxation mitigates the stratification between the poor and the rich. But hard and woe to a country that relies solely on European funding. Until we mobilize Bulgaria's internal investment capabilities and increase the efficiency of European money, we will not be able to catch up even with Romania," explained the socialist.

„ BSP wants our common European home, which is currently losing ground – zero economic growth, after South Korea, China and the US is in robotics and artificial intelligence, to be strong. We are for a new economic model and we are working with our European partners for this. We have a clear concept, we have expertise, we will defend it and convince our colleagues of the rightness of our positions,” Prof. Gechev also said.

And he concluded: “The European Union faces extraordinary challenges in a changing world. We want the EU to be peaceful, because without solving the question of peace and war, no other question will be solved. We will actively work for a new economic model and change in energy, as Europe's economy is trapped, facing huge losses from sanctions against Russia. We will work for a peaceful and prosperous Europe.
