Bulgaria will not be able to fulfill all the criteria for entry into the eurozone by the date of the convergence report in June. This was announced by the governor of the BNB, Dimitar Radev, at a conference dedicated to the entry into the eurozone, organized by the association of honorary consuls , inform from BNT.
According to Radev, the main reason for the delay in the country is the political crisis and the insufficient desire of the executive power to finalize the process. According to the governor of the BNB, our country still has a chance to enter the eurozone next year, but it is unlikely that this will happen from January 1.
Banks and the banking system will be ready to enter the Eurozone by the end of the year. However, this is not the case with the state administration and local authorities, who must seriously work to meet the technical requirements, explained Radev.
According to him, four measures must be urgently taken:
Restoration of political contacts on the subject, since according to Radev, now the connections are only protocol
Returning to the path of fiscal consolidation, which is extremely important for the BNB
The fastest possible adoption of the Law on the introduction of the euro
Accelerating the work on the remaining conditions and the technical preparation of the executive power
Official Economic Minister Petko Nikolov also commented on the topic. According to him, it is important for Bulgaria to adopt the euro, as one of the benefits is an improvement in the country's rating. Nikolov announced that the department is also preparing a special campaign to prevent abuses after the adoption of the euro.
"I assure that the CPC will monitor the implementation of this in order to encourage. KZP will organize an "Honest Trader" campaign. with a clearly visible logo", Nikolov explained.
