Preparations for Turkey's June 9 vote are going smoothly - 1

Election papers and voting machines have already been received and preparations for the June 9 vote are going smoothly. This was announced for the BNR by the Consul General of Bulgaria in Istanbul, Vasil Valchev, in connection with the upcoming elections for members of the National Assembly and the European Parliament on Sunday.

A total of 166, or just over 20 percent of all polling stations abroad, have been opened in Turkey. In four of them, which are located in our diplomatic and consular representations in our southern neighbor, it will be possible to vote both for members of the National Assembly and for MEPs. One of these sections is in our Consulate General in Istanbul, where the preparation for the vote goes smoothly and without tension. No delays in voting are expected because of the "2 in 1" elections, Vasil Valchev pointed out:

"In general, preparations for Sunday's vote are proceeding normally. We received the election papers and the machines from Sofia. Everything is going according to the established terms and rules. There are no difficulties, at least for now. We receive good assistance from the Turkish state authorities, in the form of the Welsh Government, mayors, local municipal administrations and, of course, the expatriate associations of Bulgarian citizens."

These are the sixth elections for the National Assembly since April 2021, and for this reason our diplomatic representations have already gained serious experience in electoral organization, explained Vasil Valchev:

"The mood among the people is, indeed, that they are willing to give their vote so that there will be stability and from then on we will have a normal regular government which, for as long as possible of its mandate, will be able to ."

Representatives of emigrant organizations also told BNR that the hope among those entitled to vote is that the elections will lead to a stable government in Bulgaria.
