Rumiana Kolarova: GERB was under the illusion that it would have many more votes and the 150,000 it lost is a big shock - 1

DPS Chairman Delyan Peevski called for the immediate start of consultations to find a formula for forming a stable government. In his position, Peevski adds that the state must be governed by the parties legitimately elected by the Bulgarian citizens.

"It is clear that Peevski has positioned himself in the spotlight more than six months ago and is trying to have a leading role in the media discussion of what is happening in power. It is abundantly clear that the winner of this election is one. He very clearly stands out from the rest", commented the political scientist Prof. Rumyana Kolarova in the studio of Bulgaria ON AIR.

"Let's start with what needs to be done to reach a compromise conversation. What Peevski said must be done. He took advantage of the vacuum and came out and said things that actually Boyko Borisov should have said. Where is the leader of the winning party?" commented the sociologist Yuliy Pavlov.

According to him, politicians should not be surprised by the result of the elections, since sociologists predicted it even before the vote itself.

"The structure did not change from what we predicted. That a party enters with some kind of boom in the last week is a surprise, but it does not change the structure. We had predicted that no two political formations would have a majority. A tripartite government will be necessary. This was clear before the election. They had to make their strategy on how to talk after the elections on this basis," Pavlov stressed.

However, Prof. Kolarova is of the opinion that the elections were surprising for the parties.

"We have to say that the elections are a shock. The election results are a shock, and not only because of the low voter turnout. Each of the parties had illusions. Certainly, GERB was under the illusion that it would have many more votes, and I think that the 150,000 that GERB lost is a big shock," said the political scientist.
