A new organization of traffic through the Petrokhan pass enters into force today, the “Road Infrastructure” Agency announced. (API), reported BTA.

According to the decision, trains can pass through the Petrokhan Pass on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 00:00 to 06:00, and also from 09:00 to 16:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday , Thursday and Friday and from 19:00 to 24:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Their release through the Petrokhan pass is necessary due to forced closure for repair and construction of an expressway along the Mezdra-Lyutidol route. The road through the Petrokhan Pass is not the only alternative route, as all possible routes are indicated in a press release from API.

Civil associations and some political parties, dissatisfied with the API's decision to launch shooting ranges through the Petrokhan Pass, are organizing a third protest on the road in the village of Burziya on June 25, the MP from "Vazrazhdane" told BTA. Peter Petrov. According to Petrov, people in the Montana region and all of northwestern Bulgaria are against this decision and are ready to block the road when the heavy trucks leave. The first two protests on the road were on June 14 and 17.

The regional governor of Montana, Ivaylo Antonov, stated that he stands by his position against the passage of tires through Petrokhan, and indicated that he had presented his considerations in a written statement to the state authorities.

The municipal council in Berkovitsa has unanimously voted a declaration against the passage of trucks weighing more than 12 tons through Petrohan. The mayor of Berkovitsa, Radoslav Naydenov, and the mayor of the village of Burziya in the municipality of Berkovitsa, Atanas Alexov, express fears that the release of tires through Petrokhan will lead to traffic accidents, as the road is narrow and with many turns, where large trucks inevitably enter the oncoming lane movement. They point out that the road through the pass is designed only for cars and the trucks will break and damage it, and the vibrations from the trucks can also break fences and houses around the road in Burzia village. According to the local mayors, the heavy trucks will slow down the traffic for many people from northwestern Bulgaria, as well as from Serbia and Romania, who in the summer months travel to Greece and Bulgaria for seaside holidays through Petrokhan.
