President Rumen Radev welcomes the Bulgarian ministries, which today celebrate 145 years since their establishment.

"In times of deepening political crisis, of internal and external trials, it is more than ever necessary to remember the will and dedication of generations of our ancestors who devoted their energies to building and strengthening the Bulgarian state and its institutions," said Radev.

The first government of the Principality of Bulgaria with Prime Minister Todor Burmov was appointed by Decree No. 1 of Prince Alexander I Battenberg of July 5, 1879. In his greeting, the head of state noted that before this government “the era of that time set impressive historical tasks - to put the foundations of our modern statehood, to create prerequisites for the unity and rapid progress of the Bulgarian people, to win the authority of our young country on the international stage.

The first six Bulgarian ministries were established on the same date – of foreign affairs and confessions, of justice, of internal affairs, of public education, of finance and of war.

„For nearly a century and a half, they have been fulfilling their important mission of consolidating the independent Bulgarian state, defending the interests of the citizens and the worthy place of Bulgaria in Europe and the world,”, the president points out.

“Today reminds us that if without institutions nothing is long-lasting and sustainable, then without people nothing is possible and achievable”, the head of state also stated, congratulating all the employees of the Bulgarian ministries who are celebrating their holiday today, expressing gratitude for their dedication and professionalism.
