There were instructions in about 300 constituencies with a three-way runoff – the united left and macronist candidates had agreed to form a so-called republican front and give up the third place to favor the second and overflow votes. This has worked incredibly well, mostly because the left electorate is very disciplined. They mobilized and managed to block the path of the National Assembly and send it all the way to third place.
