Alexander Nikolov: Why is this compensation being demanded from "Gazprom" only now? The amount should be more - 1

Good news is that Bulgaria filed a lawsuit against “Gazprom“ for 400 million euros, but the amount must be greater. This is what he said in the show “This Morning” the former energy minister Alexander Nikolov, but refused to indicate “what would be a fairer compensation”.
„The devil is always in the details. The problem was not the currency – whether it will be rubles, dollars or something else, but in the non-partner position in which Bulgaria was placed then”, he explained.

We remind you that Bulgaria is demanding EUR 400 million in compensation from “Gazprom” because of the damage that the Russian company caused to our country with the unilateral suspension of gas supplies more than two years ago.
Then the company asked Bulgaria to pay for the deliveries in rubles, but our country continued to adhere to the contract and the sanctions that were already in force against Russia.

So at the end of April 2022 “Gazprom Export“ deliveries stopped. Then the minister of energy was Alexander Nikolov.
„This whole situation now brings me back to a topic that I did not hope could unite absolutely all Bulgarians”, the former energy minister also said.
Alexander Nikolov drew attention to the argumentation and the manner of filing this lawsuit, as well as to the amount requested by our country.
He is also demanding that all events that have happened since April 26, 2022 be rolled back to clarify what every single energy minister has done so far.

„It is necessary to track who said what and whose interest was expressed”, he is categorical.
Alexander Nikolov also asked: “Why is this compensation being requested now?", recalling that nine months the “assembly" she was not at all worried about the financial situation of “Bulgargaz".

„We must learn to protect the public interest and stop standing with our heads down", the former energy minister also said.
