A man died in a chain accident near Yastrebino, there were also seriously injured

A 65-year-old man died in a chain accident near the village of Yastrebino, Antonovo municipality, the drivers and their passengers were seriously injured.

This was reported by the police. The traffic accident occurred between a truck and a car, and a signal about it was received minutes before 13:00 at the Regional Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” (RDPBZN)-Targovishte.

The reasons for the incident are being clarified. At the moment, it has been established that a passenger car with a Sofia registration, driven by a 42-year-old woman from Varna, traveling from Sofia to Varna, for reasons not yet explained, entered the oncoming traffic. As a result, he hit a cargo bus with a trailer attached.

As a result of the impact, a 65-year-old man riding in the front right seat of the car died on the spot. A young woman under the age of 20 riding in the back seat had serious and life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers, as well as two men and a woman riding in the truck, were seriously injured. All the wounded were promptly brought to the regional hospital in Targovishte for treatment.

The executive director of the Multidisciplinary Hospital for Active Treatment (MBAL)-Targovishte, Dr. Ivan Svetulkov, said that at the moment the condition of the injured in the accident has already stabilized, with the exception of the young woman from the car.

According to him, it was arranged that she should be transported to Veliko Tarnovo, from where a medical helicopter would pick her up. The assessment of the helicopter team was that it was not suitable for flight by air and it was left for treatment in intensive care at Veliko Tarnovo Hospital. Her condition is critical.

Blood samples were taken from both drivers to determine the use of alcohol or drugs. The research results are not ready yet.
