Between 13:00 and 21:00 today the movement of trucks over 20 tons will be restricted on road sections in the regions of Ruse, Shumen, Veliko Tarnovo, Razgrad and Silistra due to the expected high temperatures, the "Road Infrastructure" Agency announced. (API), reported BTA.

The restriction does not apply to motor vehicles transporting perishable food, temperature controlled goods, live animals and dangerous goods.

In the Ruse region, the movement of heavy-duty trucks will be restricted on the road I-2 Ruse - Razgrad in the section from the exit of Ruse in the direction of Byala at the 12th km to the 37th km, as well as on the road I-5 Ruse - Veliko Tarnovo from the Ruse exit at the 6th to the 65th km. Traffic on the I-5 road in the section from the city of Byala in the direction of Ruse to the city of Ruse will also be stopped.

In the Shumen region, traffic will be temporarily restricted in a section of the “Hemus“ from the 311th km near Bukhovtsi to the 376th km near Nevsha, and along the I-4 Targovishte - Shumen road, in the Cherencha section – road junction “Belokopitovo“ (from the 250th km to the 258th km).

On the territories of the Shumen and Razgrad regions, heavy goods vehicles will be stopped for movement in the section of the road I-2 Ruse - Shumen – Varna, and in the regions of Silistra and Shumen along the first-class road I-7 Silistra - Shumen.

In the Veliko Tarnovo region, the traffic of trucks over 20 t will be temporarily restricted on road I-4 Sevlievo - Veliko Tarnovo - Antonovo between the village of Novo Selo and in the area of the village of Moravitsa (from km 101 to km 173 km). Heavy goods traffic will also be stopped in a section of the first-class road I-5 Polski Trumbesh – Veliko Tarnovo - Gabrovo from the area of Polski Trumbesh to Debelets from the 65th km to the 115th km, as well as along road II-55 Debelets – Limit – Gurkovo, in the section from Debelec to the village of Mishemorkov Khan.

As the reason for stopping heavy goods traffic in the afternoon hours, when the temperatures are the highest, the API states the minimization of the risks of deformations of the road surface, as well as the protection of the life and health of travelers.

During a traffic stop, HGVs will wait outside the roadway at designated locations without impeding other road users.

The API appeals to drivers to drive carefully and at an appropriate speed, to comply with the traffic rules and not to undertake risky overtaking that endangers the safety of all other passengers. The agency also reminds not to use the emergency lanes on the highways for faster movement in heavy traffic, as it prevents the passage of vehicles with a special traffic mode in the event of an accident.

Today maximum temperatures are expected to be between 35° and 40°, and in Sofia - about 35°, reports the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.

It will be sunny and warm in the mountains, after noon over the eastern regions - with cumulus clouds, but it is possible to rain only in isolated places.
